The Healthy Rainforest

Filed under: Acai Production & Harvesting — myacai @ 5:31 pm

Deep in Brazil lies a jungle called the Amazon Rainforest. Known to most by its abundant flora and wildlife, the forest is a great wealth of information to the world. In addition to information, the various plants also provide several health benefits to everyone. One in particular is the açai berry. This berry grows on trees near bodies of water and is extremely high in antioxidants. This is just one of many things the Amazon Rainforest has to offer.    There are many discoveries that some of the plants help in developing new medicines and this is researched by interviewing people indigenous to the area. Because the area has been occupied for centuries, many people have profited from the vast healthy properties the rainforest has to offer. Aside from the açai berry, guarana can be found in the rainforest. It too is a small berry like fruit that is also sweet and juicy. Besides having all the trees that add to the world’s oxygen levels, the rainforest has herbs that are being used in studies to help cure Alzheimer’s. There are at least 10 known plants that can heal in the Amazon rainforest. A few of the illnesses that are currently being studied are arthritis pain, (Una de Gato for this), low energy, (algae can be used for this!)and excess weight, (stevia for this). Like anything else, some don’t work and only have the effect of placebos but for the most part, there are legitimate health benefits in the Amazon Rainforest.
